Throw a Curveball
A curveball (yakker, deuce, hook, yellow hammer, Uncle Charlie, or bender) is thrown with topspin and thus will drop or dive as it nears the plate. Curveballs are sometimes described as 12-to-6 curves if they break straight down. Many pitchers throw a curveball (and their fastball) from a three-quarter-arm slot so the curveball breaks down and to the side (a right-handed pitcher's curve will break down and away from a right-handed batter).
